Island of Ioannina

The Island of Ioannina, otherwise known as the Island of Ali Pasha, is located in Lake Pamvotida (the lake of Ioannina). Historically, monasteries were first built on the island. Then the settlement of the island was built. The islet has a long history with Ali Pasha, Kyra Frosiny during the period of the Turkish occupation. There are boats that can transport the visitor. The routes last only 10 minutes per hour. On the island one can enjoy traditional dishes such as eels, frog legs and trout. There are also many tourist shops that sell folk art products.
